“Max Payne” wasn’t as good as I would think. Somewhere between “Sin City” and “Wars Of The Worlds,” the movie stopped. And by that, I mean its photography and the special effects, not the story.

Mena Suvari (”American Beauty”) and Matthew Modine (”Weeds”) are set to star in the Lifetime Original movie “Sex & Lies in Sin City” (wt), based on the true story of the death of wealthy Las Vegas casino heir Ted Binion and the ensuing trial of his lover and her con artist boyfriend. The movie is based on the book Murder in Sin City by Jeff German.

Pulled from the nadir of mid-January, 'The Spirit,' the highly anticipated Frank Miller movie that at the very least echoes his 'Sin City,' will now be in the spotlight as a Christmas Day release. It's counterprogramming for all the awards-heavy and family-friendly fare that season, but is it bad counterprogramming or an incredibly smart move?

Frank Miller's 'Sin City' follow-up, 'The Spirit,' is slated to be released next January. The graphic novel adaptation stars Gabriel Macht as a cop who returns from beyond to fight evil, plus Samuel L. Jackson and a bevy of gorgeous women: Scarlett Johansson, Paz Vega, Jaime King, and Eva Mendes.

Like it or not, there's something excessively macho about Las Vegas. Also known as Sin City, it is a place of gambling, lust and money, a place of dreams and illusions. Consequently, it's a perfect setting for movies, especially those targeted at men. Find out about some of the films that have made Vegas famous.

“What was that?” “No way!” You’ll be saying these phrases a few times during this movie, but in a good way. Fans of Kill Bill, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Grindhouse, and Sin City, this is a must see! Move over Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez and make room for Michael Davis.
